Cameron F. MacRae III practices in the areas of corporate, financial, and energy law, with more than 40 years of experience in both private and government practice. Mr. MacRae has represented numerous major corporations and financial institutions in the insurance, banking, investment banking, energy (oil, gas and utilities), as well as the manufacturing and real estate sectors. His areas of experience include general corporate and transactional law, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), securities law, banking law and real estate transactional law.
Mr. MacRae was for many years a senior partner of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae LLP (a predecessor firm of Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP). Through the decade of the 1990s, Mr. MacRae was Chairman of LeBoeuf, Lamb's large Corporate and Finance Department, and for the latter part of that period served as the Vice Chairman of that firm.
Mr. MacRae also previously served as General Counsel and Deputy Superintendent of the New York State Banking Department from 1972 to 1974 (during the later years of the Rockefeller Administration). He also served as Attorney-Advisor, Office of the General Counsel to the Secretary of the U.S. Air Force, from 1966 to1969 (while on active duty as an Air Force Captain).
Mr. MacRae graduated from Princeton University and thereafter from Yale Law School, where he served as Note and Comment Editor of the Yale Law Journal. Mr. MacRae is a member of the bars of New York and Washington, D.C.
Among the many clients Mr. MacRae has represented in the insurance, banking, investment banking, energy (oil, gas and utilities), manufacturing, real estate and governmental sectors are the following:
- Financial Institutions — Western & Southern Financial Group; Life Re; DZ Bank; Bank of N.T. Butterfield (Bermuda); UBS AG; CBI-TDB; Banamex; Credit Suisse Group; Union Bancaire Privee; and the Securities Investor Protection Computation (SIPC).
- Oil, Gas & Utilities — Marine Preservation Association (consortium of major oil industry companies, established to develop plans to respond to, contain and clean up catastrophic oil spills; members include Chevron, Exxon-Mobil, BP, Shell and Conoco Phillips); Enron; and LOOP, Inc.
- Real Estate — Paramount Group, Inc. (US real estate company affiliate of Otto Versand, West Germany) Amtrak (in connection with redevelopment plans for Penn Station); and Gruppo Sorgentes.
- Manufacturing — Richemont Group; Puerto Rican Cement.
- Governmental — Department of the Treasury, Government of Puerto Rico.
