Gregory M. Lefkowitz practices in the area of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark and copyright procurement, enforcement and licensing. Mr. Lefkowitz has substantial experience in patent prosecution and practice for clients in a variety of technology fields, including chemistry, materials science, mechanical engineering and biotechnology. Prior to entering the practice of law, Mr. Lefkowitz was a research scientist for Kimberly-Clark Corporation, where he was co-inventor of five patents and conducted and managed developmental work related to material science and chemical technologies.
Mr. Lefkowitz is a 2006 graduate, with high honors, of the University of Florida, Levin College of Law, where he was research editor of the Journal of Law and Public Policy and was elected to the Order of the Coif. He also is a graduate, with honors, of the University of Florida (B.S., Chemical Engineering).
Representative Matters
- Obtained a decision in the Federal Circuit affirming a trial court decision barring patent infringement claims on grounds of collateral estoppel in litigation related to magnetically attached auxiliary frames for prescription eyeglasses. Aspex Eyewear Inc. v. Zenni Optical, LLC, Case No. 2012-1318 (Fed. Cir. 2013).
- Outside the Box Innovations, LLC, et al. v. Travel Caddy, Inc., et al. (Fed. Cir.). Federal Circuit upheld a lower court ruling that client's carrying cases for tools did not infringe appellant’s patents.
- General Mills, Inc. v. Hom/Ade Food Sales, Inc., 2:06-cv-00003-TJW (E.D. Tex.). Represented defendant against claims that it infringed a General Mills patent directed to cooking or heating biscuits. Case settled shortly before Markman hearing.
- Intelligent Designs 2000 Corp. v. Sprint/United Management Co., et al., 11-cv-00437 (D. Colo.). Represented Home Depot in patent infringement litigation related to cell phone holders. Case settled.
- Sandow Media, LLC v. Fix Medical Spa, LLC, 2:11-cv-00854-RSM (W.D. Wash.). Represented beauty product retailer and magazine publisher in an action for infringement of the NEWBEAUTY® trademark and trade dress infringement brought against a beauty salon and medical spa. Case settled.
- Sandow Media, LLC v. Renew Beauty Med Spa, Inc., 3:11-cv-02082-G (N.D. Texas). Represented beauty product retailer and magazine publisher in an action for infringement of the NEWBEAUTY® trademark and trade dress infringement brought against a beauty salon and medical spa. Case settled.
